ErG Lighting Family of miniature Dc/Dc LED Drivers These compact drivers have wide input constant current The LD48 series, available now from MicroPower Direct, is a family of miniature, DC/DC LED drivers. Specifically designed to power/control high brightness LEDs, these units feature a constant current output up to 1A, PWM & analog dimming, and efficiency to 97 percent. Eight models operate from a very wide input voltage range of 7.0V DC to 60V DC and provide constant current outputs of 150 mA, 250 mA, 300 mA, 350 mA, 500 mA, 600 mA, 700 mA, or 1,000 mA. Standard features include efficiency to 97 percent, short circuit protection, and a remote on/off input. LED brightness (dimming) may be controlled by an analog voltage input or digitally by a PWM input. The PWM input may also be used as a remote ON/ OFF control input. The MTBF (per MIL HDBK 217F) of the LD48 series is greater than 950 khours. All models of the LD48 family are packaged in a compact MiniDIP case with an industry-standard pin-out. Existing LED arrays represent a challenging compromise between the LED array metal printed circuit boards or ceramic substrates being small enough to minimize costs and deliver the optical performance required while also providing electrical, mechanical, and optical attach features to make them easier to use in a lighting system. The new technology from Molex transfers the connectivity and ease-of-use features from the LED array metal or ceramic substrate to a separate plastic body substrate, allowing for improvements in thermal, optical, and mechanical interconnect functionality. This plastic body substrate can be combined with the LED array package in a number of ways to provide an array top side surface with multiple connection choices. This new technology, co-developed with Bridgelux Inc., has been incorporated into the recently announced Vero array product family from Bridgelux.
