The zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) resonant converter on the output stage reduces switching losses and noise, improves EMC, and enhances overall efficiency. The microprocessor within the CFE400M controls the output of the resonant converter, as well as the current limit and peak current operation, which enables the supply to provide power to inductive as well as capacitive loads. The micro controls housekeeping routines, such as controlling the timing to turn power on/off and monitoring the PFC section, thereby reducing the control circuit component count by 25 percent. All models in TDK-Lambda's CFE400M range are certified to IEC/EN/ UL/CSA 60950-1 Edition 2 for generalpurpose applications, IEC/EN/UL/ CSA 60601-1 Editions 2 & 3 for medical equipment, and meets IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 Edition 2 for laboratory and process control applications. SX1235 Low Current Sub-GHz rF trAnSCeiver For social alarms and healthcare monitoring Semtech Corp. expanded its RFIC transceiver platform with the new SX1235 — a fully integrated, high-performance, low current sub-GHz RF transceiver that provides ETSI category 1 compliance with 6 dB regulatory margin.  ETSI category 1 compliance is the highest transceiver rating for European regulations and is required for safety-critical wireless applications. The SX1235 expands the target applications for Semtech's wireless platform and provides an affordable high-performance radio IC solution to monitor, serve, and increase the safety of a rising aging population. Previous category 1 solutions have only been realizable with large and expensive discrete solutions, which are difficult to design and offer little flexibility, thus limiting the overall deployment of products designed to provide safety to the elderly and workers in hazardous conditions. An integrated solution with the SX1235 reduces the development time and cost with flexibility to tailor to multiple products leading to the expansion of products to serve this important market segment.  With a 9.3 mA receive mode current consumption, the SX1235 is for category 1 applications seeking the lowest consumption possible for maximum battery lifetime while giving the highest margin to the regulatory limits. Current consumption or power efficiency in both transmit and receive modes, determines the capacity of primary or secondary back-up battery cells used in category 1 products which have a significant influence on the cost of these systems.
